The Unified Maoists Party leaders have urged the parties in government to halt the constitution drafting process to create favourable atmosphere for talks with the agitating Madhesi political parties and various groups representing Tharu and Janajati communities.
No formal decision to this effect has yet been taken but the top leaders of the party have come to this conclusion, reports confirm.
In a meeting held at the party headquarters in Parisdanda, the party top leaders also decided to forward the proposition to the parties in government, Nepali Congress and United Marxist Leninist.
This will be the last effort towards garnering consensus with the agitating parties from the main opposition reports have it and continue, this proposal is aimed at stopping the violent protest going on in the Madhesh region.
“We have decided to forward this proposition to the Nepali Congress and the UML,” said party senior leader Baburam Bhattarai and continued, “This proposal will be presented before the three parties meeting scheduled for Friday morning.”
Chudamani Khadka, personal aide of party chairman Pushpa Kamal said, “The proposal is to stop the constitution drafting process for the time being.”
PS: Maoists are here and there also. Puzzling.
