Discord notes and protest to begin in Nepal

०७ सोमबार , भाद्र २०७२१० बर्ष अगाडि

Amidst relentless obstruction created by the Constituent Assembly members representing the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal demanding restoration of country’s Hindu identity, Chairman Krishna Prasad Sitaula of Constitution Drafting Committee on Sunday, August 23, 2015 tabled a bill of new constitution in the Constituent Assembly.

The Madhesh based political parties have also been boycotting the CA meeting expressing their sheer dissatisfaction over the preliminary draft of the new constitution. One among the major four parties, Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Loktantrik headed by Bijaya Kumar Gacchedhar also opted out of the CA meeting. The party has been demanding eight-state federal model instead of seven states incorporated in the bill tabled by Sitaula.

While tabling the bill, Sitaula urged all the political parties to support the bill as it was intended to make Nepal self-reliant and aimed at preserving Nepali identity.

Rebuking Sitaual’s claims Kunti Kumari Shahi of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal claimed that none of the Nepali nationals and political parties except the so-called three major parties are celebrating the new constitution. “Nothing except voices of discord could be heard in the streets. The three parties are moving in a totally wrong track.”
