Chairman Kamal Thapa of Rastriya Prajatantra Party has claimed that the four major parties under pressure from member states of the European Union and mainly, the United Kingdom have incorporated ‘right to religious conversion’ in the preliminary draft of the new constitution as the ‘fundamental right’.

Thapa made the remark while addressing the Constituent Assembly meeting summoned to hold discussion on the freshly presented preliminary draft of the new constitution, July 3, 2015.

The RPP-Nepal CA members gherao the rostrum, chanted slogans and obstructed the CA meeting for over five hours. They were mainly protesting against the decision to incorporate right to religious conversion as the fundamental right in the new constitution.
