There is no alternate to giving shape to an all party national government to deal with the devastation caused by April 25 mega earthquake.
Baburam Bhattarai made the remark on Saturday May 9, 2015 addressing a parliamentary session.
The Unified Maoists leader however did not threaten the ruling party leaders that he will personally seek India’s support to induct his party in the government.
During his last visit to New Delhi Baburam addressing a program had virtually begged for India’s “direct” support to bring his party back on power.
He said on Saturday, “The relief operation needs to be carried out on a war footing. We must understand that to face the challenges brought by the disaster we need to give shape to a national government.”
“I can see that there is clearly lack of trust in the public towards the political parties and their leaders,” he said and continued, “If we do not correct ourselves first we will be rejected by the people.”
First correct youself Dr. Bhattarai.
“It is our duty to revive peoples’ trust on us. We have to correct ourselves,” he continued.
“It is the right time for the parties to unite. We have to deploy millions of our cadres in the relief operation and reconstruct demolished homes.”
“The earthquake has destroyed old settlements in the hilly region of the country. From Doodh Koshi to Marsyangdi rivers---along the mid-hill highway the government needs to build new settlements in a planned manner,” also said Bhattarai.
