The people will eventually decide whether they accept the constitution of majority as drafted by the ruling parties, Nepali Congress and United Marxist Leninist, said Upendra Yadav and added, else, they will set it ablaze.The former deputy prime minister and Chairman of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Nepal made the remark talking to press at an interaction program in Kathmandu, Wednesday.
“If ruling parties draft constitution as per the past agreements and as per the mandate of the past agitation, the general public will accept it else they will support the protest led by the opposition parties,” he claimed.
“No one will complain if they draft the constitution as per their past commitments.”
“We were also aware that the past agreements and commitments had made the constitution drafting process difficult. Thus, we held talks with the ruling parties to ease the process. Instead, we were whipped off the talks by the ruling party leaders,” he complained.
The Nepali Congress leader and Minister for Information and Communication, Dr. Minendra Rijal speaking at the program said that opposition parties should recognize the numerical strength of ruling parties in the constituent assembly while forging consensus on
“Why the conduct of the poll if peoples’ mandate is not to be recognized,” he asked.
