The Unified Maoists Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the party will again go back to the people and may never return to the capital if ruling parties continue with their rigid stance to promulgate the constitution through a majority.“The ruling parties have been totally marginalizing us. They have left us with no space to resolve disputes through a dialogue,” he said talking to the media men at the party headquarters, Sunday.
He was spelling out the decisions made by the party central committee.
When asked if the party has decided to abandon the constituent assembly he replied, “We have not made any decision in this regard. If they decide to continue with their judgment to continue the constitution drafting process through a majority then we may never return.”
However, reports referring to the party insiders confirm that Chairman Pushpa Kamal at the meeting of the party central committee had floated his proposal to forward an en masse resignation from the Constituent Assembly. He later forwarded the idea even in the meeting between the leaders of the opposition alliance, confirm reports.
The central committee has also decided to deploy party’s top three leaders to steer the anti-government protest undertaken by the party.
According to the decision, party vice chairman Naryan Kaji Shrestha will lead the Eastern region, Chairman Pushpa Kamal will be heading the Central region and party senior leader Baburam will be leading the western region during the protest.
“The protest is an outcome of their decision to promulgate the constitution with force,” he said.
“Each districts will have their separate Protest Committees,” he informed the media.
“We are still in favor of completing the constitution drafting task through consensus. We are ready to resolve our disputes through parleys,” said Dahal and continued referring to his fresh meeting with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, “We have asked the Prime Minister to forward their road map to resolve the stalemate.”
On a different note he also made it clear that his party was not interested in restructuring the states based on ethnicity/identity.
“We have never said that we are in favor of creating states based on ethnicity. Our objective is to rather empower downtrodden sections of our society. We want an end to discrimination based on ethnicity. We want an end to the rule of one ethnic group and support rule of diversity based on ethnicity, language and community.”
He alleged that the ruling parties on the other hand are in favor of giving continuity to the rule of traditional feudal high class group of people.
