According to Surya Bahadur Thapa the major political parties have failed to meet January 22 deadline to complete the constitution drafting task because constitution was not in their priority list for the last one year period since election to the second constituent assembly was held.
By the way, Thapa is heading to New Delhi, Thursday.
India may now screw Nepal through veteral leader.
Whether he will be the first Nepali leader to meet the newly appointed Secretary at Ministry of External Affairs S Jayashankar is not known yet?
The Narendra Modi led government had unceremoniously removed Ms. Sujata Singh from the post to appoint Jayashankar January 28.
Be that as it may Thapa talking to journalists at his private residence in Maligaun on Saturday he said, “They had enough time but they were not focused on drafting the constitution.”
“They tried to resolve their disputes in the last three weeks before the deadline expired,” the senior Rastriya Prajatantra Party leader said.
“There is clearly an outrage against the political leaders in the general public and they have lost their credibility in the international arena,” he says.
However, Thapa also opines that having failed to meet the deadline nothing unexpected has happened in the country. “The sky did not fall,” he continued.
“There is no alternative to consensus between the major parties. It is disappointing they are divided. But, both the sides must understand that consensus and process is interrelated. Even if they decide to draft the constitution through the process there must be consensus between them.”
Nepali politics may see unexpected twist with Thapa in Delhi.
