Nepal’s underground former King Gyanendra Shah complains that his ‘sacrifices’ made to the nation have been highly underrated by the present day political elites. In a message delivered to the nation on 66th national democracy day Gyanendra says, “I have never alienated myself from the supreme aspiration of the people though I preferred to step aside for the sake of the nation, nationalism and a movement.”

The situation prevailing in the country is contrary to the commitments made to the public (by the concerned ones), he says and continues, the people are in deep pains though had hoped of sustainable peace and a stable political system.

“The present order has not done enough to strengthen nation, nationalism and Nepal’s national sovereignty,” also says Shah and he adds, there are signs of discord in the country.

The Nepalis had joined their hands to lay the foundation of a modern, democratic, unified and integrated Nepal, says the former king in his statement and adds, we need to move forward in the right direction taking into consideration our geography, social values, religion, culture and tradition, he concludes.
