न्यूयोर्क टाइम्सको शक्तिशाली सम्पादकीय

नेपालमा बढ्दो कोरोना संक्रमण र मृत्युदरले विश्व चिन्तित छ । नेपालकै जिम्मेवारहरू कोही पनि चिन्तित देखिन्नन् । वैशाख ३१ गते अर्थात् न्यूयोर्क टाइम्सले मे १४, २०२१ । नेपालमा कोरोना महामारीले मान्छे मरिरहेका थिए, अक्सिजन र उपचार नपाएर मान्छेको कोलाहल भइरहेको थियो, नेपाली सेनालाई शव व्यवस्थापन गर्न धौ धौ परिरहेको थियो, राजनीतिक दलहरू सत्ताप्राप्तिको झगडामा टुप्पी कसेल लागेका थिए । तर अमेरिकाको न्यूयोर्क टाइम्सले शक्तिशाली सम्पादकीय लेखेर राष्ट्रपति जो वाइडेनलाई आग्रह ग¥यो– अमेरिका, विश्वभर भ्याक्सिन पु¥याउ ।
अमेरिकाले स्वास्थ्य सामग्री किन्न नगद सहयोग दिइरहेको छ । सरकार, पत्रकार र अन्य समुदायले अमेरिकासँग खोप उपलब्ध गराइदिन आग्रह गरिरहेका छन् । अमेरिकी राजदूत ¥याण्डीबेरीले प्रयास भइरहेको र निर्णय भएपछि जानकारी दिने बताइसकेका छन् । न्यूयोर्क टाइम्सको सम्पादकीयको एक अंश–
America is Failing Its Moral Test on Vaccines

Unfortunately, instead of a bold, comprehensive strategy to vaccinate the world as quickly as possible, the Biden administration has thus far made a string of tactical decisions: donating millions of doses to countries in need, signaling its support for patent waivers that might expedite vaccine production efforts and nudging two companies — Merck and Johnson & Johnson — to collaborate on increasing supply. These are good steps, but they are not nearly sufficient to meet the moment.
