Kursk Region. Summary of the Russian Ministry of Defense on the progress of repelling the attempted invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into the territory of the Russian Federation (as of September 17, 2024)

Units of the North group of forces continue offensive actions, during which they defeated the formations of the 22nd, 41st and 115th mechanized, 17th tank, 82nd airborne assault brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the 1st National Guard Brigade, as well as the 112th and 129th territorial defense brigades in the areas of the settlements of Lyubimovka, Malaya Loknya, Darino, Nikolo-Daryino, Tolsty Lug and Plekhovo.
?? Units of the North group thwarted four enemy attacks in the direction of the settlements of Lyubimovka, Malaya Loknya, Olgovka and Cherkasskaya Konopelka.  As a result, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 30 people killed and wounded, three combat armored vehicles and two cars were destroyed.
Five attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to break through the border of the Russian Federation in the direction of the settlements of Vesyoloye and Medvezhye were repelled.
The enemy lost up to 40 personnel killed and wounded, two tanks, a Swedish-made CV-90 infantry fighting vehicle, four combat armored vehicles and an engineering obstacle clearing vehicle.

Air strikes, artillery fire and troop actions have damaged concentrations of manpower and equipment of the 22nd, 41st and 61st mechanized, 17th tank, 80th, 82nd and 95th airborne assault brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as the 112th and 129th territorial defense brigades in the areas of the settlements of Darino, Kositsa, Kurilovka, Kruglenkoye, Zazulevka, Lyubimovka, Mirny, Makhnovka, Mikhaylovka, Malaya Loknya, Nikolo-Daryino, Novy Put, Novaya Sorochina, Novoivanovka, Orlovka, Pravda, Plekhovo, Russkoye Porechnoye and Tolsty Lug.  ??Operational-tactical aviation and missile forces carried out strikes on the areas of concentration in the Sumy region and reserves of the 22nd, 41st and 115th mechanized, 82nd airborne assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the 1st National Guard Brigade, as well as the 101st, 103rd, 106th and 119th territorial defense brigades in the areas of the settlements of Belovody, Gurinovka, Kruzhok, Katerinovka, Mazevka, Novaya Sloboda, Obody, Revyakino, Rechki, Rudnevo, Rossosh, Pavlovka, Shalygino, Khoten, Esman and Yunakovka.  ??Over the course of the day, the total losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces amounted to 400 servicemen and 19 units of armored vehicles, including four tanks, a Swedish-made CV-90 infantry fighting vehicle and 14 armored combat vehicles, as well as five artillery pieces, five mortars, six vehicles and an engineering obstacle clearing vehicle.  ? In total, during the military operations in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost more than 14,200 servicemen, 119 tanks, 45 infantry fighting vehicles, 91 armored personnel carriers, 743 armored combat vehicles, 445 vehicles, 103 artillery pieces, 28 multiple launch rocket system launchers, including seven HIMARS and six MLRS made in the USA, 8 anti-aircraft missile system launchers, four transport and loading vehicles, 26 electronic warfare stations, 7 counter-battery radars, two air defense radars, 14 units of engineering equipment, including eight engineering vehicles for obstacle clearance and one UR-77 mine clearing unit.
