Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa held a meeting with former ministers, ex-diplomats, former government secretaries and heads of foreign affairs cell of various political parties at the Foreign Ministry, Friday November 27, 2015.The objective behind the interaction was to discus prevailing chaotic political order in the country and the economic blockade imposed by India, so claimed ministry spokesperson Tara Prasad Pokharel and he adds, the foreign minister also sought suggestions from the participants towards resolving these issues.

The participants advised the foreign minister to use diplomatic as well as political channels to talk to India to lift the blockade. However, they also warned him not to succumb to the Indian pressure because by imposing the blockade, India will force Nepal to accept its proposals that could harm the country. Rather, they suggested the government to resolve issues with Madhesi parties by fulfilling their genuine demands.

Spokesperson Pokharel claimed that there was no need for the government to internationalize the blockade because it has already become an international issue.
