“Talks with India’s external affairs minister concluded on a positive note, I am hopeful that the issues that have freshly cropped up between the two countries will be resolved soon”, so said Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa talking to Kantipur Online from New Delhi.
Foreign Minister Thapa had met with external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj at Hyderabad House over a luncheon.
“I will provide you with more details after holding further meetings tomorrow,” he added.
The report further quotes a Nepali official present in the meeting as saying, “Discussion mainly focused on strain in business relation and obstruction on flow of goods from the Indian side towards Nepal. We conveyed problems faced by Nepal.”
And they “noted”?
During talks Minister Thapa also conveyed that the government is totally committed to resolve issues of disputes between various political groups of the country through constitution amendment based on previous agreements.
This Thapa said when Sushma advised Nepal’s political parties and newly formed government to first resolve internal disputes.
“Nepal needs to resolve disputes through dialogue,” Sushma said.
Thapa also held talks with Indian external affairs secretary S. Jayashankar.
PS: Thapa appears to return empty handed.FM Thapa should take PM Modi of Godhara fame. Add to this the current Dadar and Patel problems.
