The Indian Ambassador to Nepal Sri Sri Ranjeet Rae- the de facto ruler of Nepal who was being challenged by his Nepali subjects by ignoring his country while recently promuglating their constitution, now claims that the chaotic situation prevailing in the country will end soon.
Yes Your Majesty.
Ambassador Rae also said that he is however, content with the initiatives taken by leaders of major political parties towards ending chaotic situation prevailing in Tarai/Madhesh- India’s special prerogative.
Rae nevertheless expressed unhappiness with the Nepali leaders for having claimed that his country has imposed an economic blockade on Nepal.
Reminds us of the then Ambassador Arvind Ram Chandra Deo, 1989. He brought down King Birendra to the status of constitutional monarch and the parties then celebrated the Indian blockade. The Indian envoy then openly supported the NC led aagitation back in 1090.
He was also of the view that its reason for blockade is because of the situation prevailing in Tarai. “This is an internal matter of Nepal and I hope it will be resolved through talks between Nepali political parties,” he said.
Rae said, “India does not want to establish relationship with particular group of people or caste rather we want to establish our relationship with Nepal as an entire nation.”
Thanks Rae for taking Nepal as a nation. But ground reality speaks otherwise Sir!
“India does not want to break its relationship with the Nepali people or make it uncomfortable. We do not want to join our soldiers with any particular group of people,” he said and added, “India is not in favour or against the constitution promulgated by Nepal in a democratic manner. In a democratic setup majority plays a vital role but while promulgating a historical document efforts must be taken to include all section of the society”.
Rae also denied that Indian government had pushed the seven point constitution amendment proposal to Nepal. He said, “We have not forwarded seven or eight point proposal. We only want Nepal to resolve its problems on its own.”
He made the remark addressing an interaction program organized by Nepal-India Friendship Association in Kathmandu, September 29, 2015.
PS: Delhi establishment has reached at a conclusion that Nepal-India relations soured because of wrong briefing of the Indian envoy. He may be recalled soon, rumors have it.
