India may impose economic blockade on Nepal

२१ सोमबार , भाद्र २०७२१० बर्ष अगाडि

Some leaders of Nepal’s Madhesh based parties have sought for support from Indians across the border on their ongoing agitation in Madhesh. The second ranking leaders of the agitating Madhesi alliance held an interaction with local business men and political actors in Raxaul of Bihar, and in return were assured substantial help from their intimate ‘friends across the border’.

Roti beti ties bind Nepal’s Madhesi community with Biharis in India.

The Annapurna Post daily reports from Birgunj, Nepal’s Madhesi leaders including vice president of Sadvawana Party Laxman Lal Karna in the interaction program complained that the government of Nepal has been using extreme force by deploying Nepal Army in Madheh to quell the ongoing peaceful agitation. “We need your help because the government of Nepal does not want to empower the Madhesi community,” said Karna.

The President of Parsa District chapter of Upendra Yadav led Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal, Pradip Yadav claimed that the Madhesi population share blood ties with India and thus Indian help has become necessary.

“We have imposed Bundh in Madhesh,” said Yadav and while urging the local Indian leaders said, “We urge you to stop the flow of petroleum products and other necessary goods into Nepal”

Local Indian Leader Anil Sinha in response while assuring support to the ongoing Madhesi protest claimed, “If the government of Nepal does not heed to the Madhesi demands within five days the no vehicles carrying petroleum products or other commodities will be allowed to enter Nepal.”

PS: Reminds of March 23, 1989 Indian economic blockade. Is China listening?
