Chairman Pushpa Kamal of Unified Maoists is of the view that demolition of the human sized statue of Late Girija Prasad Koirala by Madhesi protestors in the district of Parsa the other day is a direct attack on the very foundation of the newly established republican order in the country.

However, nationalists in the country take Girija as a different nationalist. Some even question his nationalist credentials. Rest in peace.

Addressing the party parliamentary delegation meeting, Wednesday September 2, 2015 in Singhdurbar he said, “Demolishing the statue of Girija Koirala in Parsa is a totally wrong move. It will only disrupt communal harmony in the country.”

Reports quote a Unified Maoists Party parliamentarian as further quoting Dahal as saying the meeting, “It is a serious matter. It is akin to demolishing the foundation of the republican order.”

He also claimed in the meeting that there was no other way than to make compromises with the agitating parties in Tarai to reach to a conclusion to promulgate the new constitution as soon as possible.

“We need to come to terms with the agitators as soon as possible. There is the greater threat of losing all revolutionary achievements made so far,” he warned his parliamentarians.

“The country could take on a reverse course if we fail to promulgate the new constitution as soon as possible,” he concluded.
