Having seen out another year, which was variegated and intricate with continued aggravation of the global health crisis and the regional, national and ideological confrontations and disputes, the world now hails the New Year 2022 in an aspiration for more durable peace, stability and a fresh development.

In this world rampant with high-handedness and arbitrariness, it is inconceivable that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea would shine as an impregnable fortress of independence and justice, an unshakable aim of peace and friendship, and a beacon of hope for the world’s progressives, if it is not blessed with the outstanding leadership of the great persons who have led the Korean people along the road of victory and prosperity.

For this reason, the Organizing Committee of International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt. Paektu (OCIFPGPP), proceeding from its mission to praise the greatness and immortal exploits of the illustrious leaders of the Korean people and promote the reality of the ever-prospering and developing Korea, has convened the Consultative Meeting of the Leading Members of the OCIFPGPP, and discussed and decided on issues to grandly celebrate this year, a year which is significant both for the Korean people and the progressive peoples of the world.  

Reaffirming our common appreciation that the year 2022 is a year of special significance for the progressive peoples supporting the cause and struggle of the Korean people as it marks the 110th anniversary of birth of President KIM IL SUNG and the 80th anniversary of birth of Leader KIM JONG IL, great leaders of the Korean people who rendered immortal services to the prosperity and development of Korea, and the 10th anniversary of having His Excellency KIM JONG UN in the highest post of the Party and the State of the DPRK, the OCIFPGPP discussed and confirmed the orientation for its action to grandly celebrate the most auspicious national holidays of the Korean people, thus issuing the official statement as follows:

 

1. The OCIFPGPP shall set the International Celebration Period to greet the 110th anniversary of birth of President KIM IL SUNG and the 80th anniversary of birth of Leader KIM JONG IL as the auspicious holidays common to humankind and elevate the festive mood on a worldwide scale.

President KIM IL SUNG and Leader KIM JONG IL are the prominent veteran statesmen universally acknowledged and the eternal sun of mankind, and it is the unfailing desire and will of the world’s progressive peoples to perpetuate their revolutionary life and achievements.

The OCIFPGPP shall set the International Celebration Period from February that marks the Day of the Shining Star, birthday of Leader KIM JONG IL to April that greets the Day of the Sun, birthday of President KIM IL SUNG, and organize various activities on a global scale as well as actively encouraging and coordinating the formations and activities of the national and regional preparatory committees in celebration of the 110th anniversary of birth of President KIM IL SUNG and the 80th anniversary of birth of Leader KIM JONG IL.

Meanwhile, the OCIFPGPP shall cooperate in a responsible manner with the preparatory committees and organizations around the world so as to ensure that all their activities are conducted in an organic correlation with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of having His Excellency KIM JONG UN in the highest post of the Party and the State of the DPRK.

 

2. The OCIFPGPP shall organize and hold international events in a grand and distinctive style on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of birth of President KIM IL SUNG and the 80th anniversary of birth of Leader KIM JONG IL.

All the festivities in celebration of the birthdays of President KIM IL SUNG and Leader KIM JONG IL will be a manifestation of the boundless admiration of the progressive humankind. 

The OCIFPGPP shall organize and hold colourful and distinctive international events by utilizing various means and tools on the Internet, while working in a closer contact with friendship and solidarity organizations with the Korean people around the world to ensure the voices of the progressive humankind ring out more extensively in admiration and praise for the great leaders of the Korean people. 

In this context, during the international celebration period, the OCIFPGPP shall hold in a grand style an International E-seminar titled “KIM JONG IL – Eternal Incarnation of Juche Korea” and online photo exhibition, “Mount Paektu” in February on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of birth of Leader KIM JONG IL, and online celebration forum, “KIM IL SUNG – Eternal Sun of Humankind” in April on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of birth of President KIM IL SUNG, while giving wide publicity to the international prize contest of literary works on the above two occasions so as to encourage the more people to join.

 

3. The OCIFPGPP shall launch the activities in support of the just cause of the Korean people on the global scale so as to adorn this meaningful year with more brilliance. 

The progressive humankind are admiring Korea as the beacon of hope – a country that is vigorously advancing towards a thriving socialist nation and the ideal society of mankind by resolutely braving all kinds of challenges and difficulties under the outstanding and seasoned leadership of His Excellency KIM JONG UN, who carries forward the cause of President KIM IL SUNG and Leader KIM JONG IL intact.

The OCIFPGPP shall further liven up the atmosphere of festivities elevated during the International Celebration Period while organizing and unfolding the activities briskly in many different countries and regions around the world to laud the peerless great persons and promote the reality of Korea in an objective way, and in support of just cause of the Korean people and their indomitable spirit to achieve peace and security on the Korean peninsula and its region, and those of the world.

In this regard, the OCIFPGPP shall call its enlarged meeting at the end of the International Celebration Period with participation of public figures from various circles including the representatives from the friendship and solidarity organizations with the Korean people and the international democratic organizations around the world, to deliberate and decide on its future action plans.

 

The OCIFPGPP would like to take this opportunity to express its hope and confidence that all the activities planned for this year will bear the wonderful fruition without fail, thanks to the positive support and involvement of the world’s progressive peoples who aspire after independence and justice, and love peace and friendship. 

The OCIFPGPP, in this significant year, will fulfill its mission and responsibility in its works to immortalize and glorify the brilliant ideology and feats of the peerless great persons, and to render its support and encouragement to the Korean people in their just cause.
