Chairman KP Sharma Oli of United Marxist Leninist is of the view that the controversy prevailing on the preliminary draft of the new constitution is completely normal.

He is also of the view that the new constitution even after it is endorsed by the Constituent Assembly will still be debated by the population. Thus, it will be controversial. When people are drafting their own constitution then it is natural to have discussions and debates on it. Some will still be dissatisfied.”

“Let us not forget that our last constitution had been a failure,” he claimed.

 “There are only few among 28 Million population who are against the constitution,” he said and added, “There is no controversy at all.”

Oli- probably the next Prime Minister of the country made the remark talking to Annapurna Post Daily.

When asked if some foreign forces were hell bent on disrupting the constitution drafting process Oli replied, “I have been in constant touch with leaders from both India and China. They have advised me time and again to promulgate the constitution sooner than later. They have never advised me to hinder the process.”

When asked to comment on the ongoing protest over the secular status of the country, he said, “We will eliminate the secular status. There is much hue and cry over the secular status thus we will manage to get rid of it. The country will be defined as the one where free practice of all religions will be allowed.”

“Possibility for separate administrative regions is being discussed to address the concerns of Tharu Community and ongoing protests in far western and mid western regions of the country,” he also claimed.

“There will not be separate provinces for the Tharu community and Karnali region however, separate administrative regions for specifically cultural development of the regions are beign discussed by the leadership.”

“We have always stood against giving shape to provinces based on ethnicity but we are in favour of empowering the people.”
