Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi to take part in the donor’s conference being organized by the government of Nepal next month.
Prime Minister Sushil talked to India’s Prime Minister Modi over telephone, June 11, 2015.
Nepal’s Finance Minister Ram Saran Mahat is also in New Delhi to handover a formal invitation to the Prime Minister Modi requesting for his gracious presence at the donor’s conference being held on June 25 in Kathmandu.
PM Sushil also informed Modi that through the donor’s conference Nepal intends to generate funds from its international development partners for reconstruction following massive earthquakes.
There are reports in the media that India’s Babus seated in South Block and 7, Race Course Road are not at all happy with Prime Minister Koirala’s outright rejection to India’s request to hold the conference right in New Delhi.
One of the Indian government high ranking officials visiting Nepal recently had reportedly in his meeting with PM Sushil conveyed that Prime Minister Modi was more than willing to hold the conference in New Delhi to which Sushil denied.
He instead told that Nepal will be holding the conference right in Kathmandu.
The Indian mandarins are mostly blamed for existing hitches in the relationship between the two countries.
Sushil also told Modi that objective behind holding the conference right in Kathmandu was to give an idea on earthquake incurred damages to the representatives of international community who will be landing Nepal for the conference, reports Setopati Online quoting sources.
In response Modi said, “India highly respects Nepal’s sovereignty and we are always ready to support Nepal.”
