The Unified Maoists Party leader Baburam Bhattarai claims that giving continuity to the existing government headed by Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala in the form of a national unity government is an impossible proposition.

“In the manner Sushil Koirala government is functioning it has failed to inspire the people. He has failed so far through his activities to assure people that his government will successfully carry out resurrect the country from the rubbles.”

“I am in favour of a new face. Those who have already headed the government should not be presented as the candidates.”

When asked by Dristi Weekly where he is projecting United Marxist Leninist Chairman KP Oli as the country’s next prime minister, replies Bhattarai, “I am not talking about an individual. There are others too who are equally competent to head the country. Having said that the Nepali Congress and the UML being the top two parties their claim over the government becomes valid. Since, KP Oli is yet to lead the country he could be one of the candidates for the job.”

“I am in favour of giving shape to a National Reconstruction Authority to resurrect the country from the present crisis. It will have the responsibility to complete the reconstitution activities within five years and in the following decade to build a new Nepal. I am ready to play a constructive role in this aspect.”

“I am not talking about leadership role for myself. It is for someone else to consider it. I have my own plans and programs on this, being an architect and a student of development I have a plan to carry out reconstruction within five years. I am ready to contribute from my side.”
