Indian policy has been total failure in Nepal after 12 point accord: Ghimire

Following New Delhi based 12-Point Agreement, each and every policy taken by India on Nepal has been a failure.

“After signing of the said agreement India has always played a role in Nepali Politics. It has always been a failure. The policy it has adopted has been an abject disappointment.”

Senior Journalist Yuba Raj Ghimire talking to Rishi Dhamala of Reporters’ Club made the comments.

Mr. Ghimire was a Delhi based journalists prior to his landing in Nepal.

When asked to describe reason for the failure, replies Ghimire, “Nepal has remained in a constitution less state. There is no political stability. The 12-Point Agreement refers to Peace, Democracy, Stability and economic prosperity---we are yet to find these.”

Ghimire also claims that Baburam’s one point agenda is to ensure India prevailing in Nepali politics. He is trying to guarantee a permanent position for India in the internal matters of Nepal. This was the reason for his fresh visit to India, claims Ghimire.

“He went to India. He sought for Indian interference in Nepal. It is only because of Baburam India occupies significant position in Nepali politics now.”

“Have you ever seen a former secretary or an ambassador providing a certificate to someone of being a ‘nationalist’ or a ‘traitor’,” asks Ghimire.

To recall, the former Indian ambassador to Nepal Mahamana Shyam Saran addressing a program in New Delhi recently also attended by Baburam had called him a ‘nationalist leader who worries about the future of Nepal’.

But, Indian leaders had all praise for Bhattarai, asks Dhamala.

Replies Ghimire, “Not Indian leaders. It was just Shyam Saran. He is not a leader.”
