Nepal Maoists leader Sharma Justifies Protest programs

The Unified Maoists’ Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma talking to the representatives of international media at the party headquarters, Tuesday said that the opposition camp headed by his party is undertaking a protest program mainly to preserve the sanctity of the 12 Point Agreement, Broader peace agreement and the interim constitution.

“We have decided to take on to another round of struggle to rule out any threats posed to the past agreements signed between the major parties and the interim constitution.”

“We are ready to hold talks with the ruling parties provided they express their commitment to fully abide by the past agreements,” he continued.

As one of the major stakeholders of the broader peace agreement, it is our bounden duty to preserve revolutionary achievements by ensuring them in the constitution, said Sharma and continued, unfortunately, the Nepali Congress and the United Marxist Leninist are trying to promulgate the constitution through numbers than forging consensus.  

The party leader Lila Mani Pokharel who was also present at the interaction said that the movement initiated by the party was a compulsion only.
