WASHINGTON, DC– US-based Khalistani terrorist Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, arrested in April, will soon be repatriated to India, sources told NDTV on July 7. Singh is a key figure wanted in connection with at least 16 terror attacks across Punjab and faces more than 30 criminal cases in India.

Singh, a resident of Amritsar, was apprehended in the US on April 18 by teams from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He was subsequently placed in ICE custody.

Indian agencies have long pursued Singh, with the National Investigation Agency announcing a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on him in January. He was specifically wanted by the NIA in a case registered last October concerning a hand grenade attack on a house in Chandigarh.

Investigations reveal Singh’s deep ties to a cross-border terror network. He is alleged to have collaborated with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence and the banned Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International. An expert in grenade attacks,

Singh is known to have carried out multiple  assaults on police stations in Punjab and the US. His criminal trajectory began with liquor and drug smuggling, leading to associations with terrorists and gangsters.
