MOSCOW, May 20. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has confirmed Moscow’s focus on a fair settlement of the conflict in Ukraine following a telephone conversation with his US counterpart Donald Trump, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a reception on the occasion of Orthodox Easter.

He recalled Russia’s firm position “on a fair settlement of the Ukrainian crisis created by the West.”

“This position was once again confirmed with all certainty yesterday by President Vladimir Putin following his telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump,” Lavrov said.

Earlier, Putin told the media that his telephone conversation with Trump lasted more than two hours and was informative and frank. This discussion between the leaders of Russia and the United States became a third since the beginning of the year. According to the Russian head of state, Trump noted that Russia, for its part, is in favor of a peace settlement in Ukraine. Russia is ready to work with Ukraine on a memorandum on a future peace treaty, which could include a ceasefire and principles for conflict resolution, among other things.
