The Chinese Ambassador to Nepal has said that “China and Nepal are good neighbors, friends and partners linked by mountains and rivers. We are bound by geography, history, culture and economic links to be a community of common destiny.
He further says, “The two countries should nurture our friendship and cooperation built during these past 60 years and make concerted efforts to upgrade the China-Nepal comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring ever-lasting friendship to a higher level”
Delivering a message to CSC journal to mark the sixt years of nepal-China diplomatic relations, the Ambassador continues: “ The friendship between our two countries dates back to the ancient times. The founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949 and the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal in 1955 added new depth and dimensions to this thousand-year-old relationship which has now developed into a comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring ever-lasting friendship”.
He goes on to say, “ China has always persisted in the spirit of equality of aD nations, large and small, and respected Nepal’s sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity as weD as developmental strategies. Nepal has also firmly supported China’s position on issues concerning China’s core interests. The most valuable experience in the development of our relationship over the past 60 years has been to support each other in times of need.
China has continuously stood in solidarity with the Nepali government and people in time of difficulties. This was best manifested by China’s timely efforts to help Nepal after the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal early this year. The reopening of the Arniko Highway in August despite all the physical difficulties and the delivery of 1,000 metric tons of petroleum as emergency assistance to Nepal in October, are also strong evidence of China’s sqlid support to Nepal and that a friend in need is a friend indeed.
