Kim Jong Un Guides Landing and Anti-landing Drills of KPA

Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA), guided landing and anti-landing exercises of the KPA.

Involved in the drills were surface ships and sharpshooters of the East Sea Fleet of the KPA Navy, pursuit planes under the 2nd Air Division of the KPA Air and Anti-Air Force, artillery sub-units of the 7th Corps and some forces of the 108th Motorized Infantry Division of the KPA.

After receiving a report on the drill procedures from the chief of the KPA General Staff at an observation post, the Supreme Commander gave an order to start the drills.

A landing drill was staged first.

Seeing the daring action of landing units, Kim Jong Un said with pleasure that such surprise landing and attack on the coast would result in a victorious battle.

Then followed an anti-landing drill.

Artillerymen are very skilled in shooting, the Supreme Commander said, adding: Any enemy group will never land on seashore of the country as our reliable artillerymen stand guard in full readiness to wipe out the aggressors.

He expressed his great satisfaction over the successful drills and set forth the tasks for rounding off the KPA's combat readiness under the prevailing situation.

The victory of an amphibious battle depends mainly on how to neutralize the enemy's possible anti-landing movements while getting over its coastal defenses at one go, he said, stressing the need to elaborate on the workable combat operations in this regard and ratchet up the practical drills for getting familiar with them and improve the armament on the navy's surface ships.

He said that, in order to bury at sea any enemy groups attacking to land in the coast of the country, training should be intensified among the units and sub-units of the KPA as required by the Juche-based idea and tactics on the coastal defence newly set forth by the Party.

Watching the drills were commanders of KPA corps and instructors of military academies at all levels.

Kim Jong Un Gives Field Guidance to October 3 Factory under KPA Navy

Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA) Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, gave field guidance to the October 3 Factory under KPA Navy Unit 597.

Enjoying the panoramic view of the factory, he said that it has been so drastically face-lifted that its appearance last year could no longer be found. It is an icon and standard in the nation's field of ship repair, he added.

He went round the room for the education in the revolutionary history and the room dedicated to the history of the factory.

Noting that the factory today would be unthinkable without the meticulous guidance and care of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, he underscored the need for the factory to effectively conduct education in the exploits performed by the great leaders and the Party among its employees through the successfully built room for the education in the revolutionary history and room dedicated to the history.

He looked round the weak-current apparatus work-team, engine repair shop, processing shop, test operation ground, dock, wharf and other places of the factory to learn in detail about its modernization.

The updating of the factory provided a solid material and technical foundation for repairing any warship in a short span of time, he noted.

He said that the dock was successfully remodeled so that it may ensure the safest and most convenient repair of warships and the wharf and embankment projects were carried out in an impeccable manner.

A clear line of distinction between the area for production and that for workers' living was drawn to provide the workers with the best working and living conditions and various cultural and welfare facilities, sporting ground and dwelling houses for employees were successfully built to keep harmony with the coastal area, he said, adding that it looks like a health resort.

He gave precious instructions to be implemented by the factory to manage and operate, noting that the factory has a very important role to play in developing the Juche-oriented naval force.

He said that the remodeling of the factory as a modern one by our own efforts of which we can be proud was a striking demonstration of the indomitable fighting spirit and validity of the cause of the army and people of the DPRK who are waging an offensive despite difficulties and trials while resolutely smashing the desperate moves of the U.S. imperialists and their followers to stifle Korean socialism.

He expressed great expectation and conviction that the officials and workers of the factory would make positive contributions to developing the Juche-oriented naval force, noting that the defense of the territorial waters means national defense in Korea surrounded by the seas on three sides.

He was accompanied by Hwang Pyong So, Ri Myong Su, Yun Tong Hyon, Jo Yong Won, Kim Jong Sik and Ma Won Chun.
