The US aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis arrived in the South Korean port city of Busan on Sunday morning to take part in ongoing joint military exercises conducted by Seoul and Washington.
The carrier is the flagship of the 7,000-sailor-strong USS John C. Stennis Strike Group, which includes three guided-missile destroyers and a guided-missile cruiser, according to US Naval Forces Korea.
North Korea has condemned the exercises, calling them preparations for an invasion.
But the US and South Korea say they are defensive and routine.
