Japan financial assistance to Nepal

०१ सोमबार , चैत्र २०७२९ बर्ष अगाडि

The Government of Japan has extended financial assistance totaling USD 85,628, equivalent to approximately NPR 9,159,627, to the Innovative Forum for Community Development (IFCD), a NGO based in Kathmandu. The support is extended under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), a scheme of the Government of Japan for 2015.

A grant contract for the project is scheduled to be signed and exchanged between His Excellency Mr. Masashi OGAWA, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, and Mr. Prakash Singh Adhikari, Executive President of IFCD, on March 15 at the Embassy of Japan in Nepal.

IFCD has been providing educational services such as formal and non-formal education, peace education, life skills and HIV/AIDS education, for more than thirty years.  They are experienced in partnerships with other agencies including UNICEF, UNESCO, UNDP, the Ministry of Education and various local NGOs. By request, IFCD has organized numerous participatory education trainings for such agencies.

The Government of Japan has designated the financial assistance to support the construction of a community learning resource center in Tanglichowk, Gorkha district, an area greatly affected by last year’s earthquake. IFCD, in partnership with the Institute of Public Policy and Action Research (IPPAR) and Maya-Prem Memorial Trust, will provide teacher training for twelve schools at this resource center.

The Embassy of Japan expects this project to be both a success and to enhance the cordial friendship between the peoples of Japan and Nepal.
