The government of Nepal has kept under top priority the construction of four highways connecting Nepal with China. The highways will be upgraded and black topped within the period of two years.

The spokesperson at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, Devendra Karki claims that the ministry is all set to bring the highways into full operation after completing the up-gradation and blacktopping in the next two fiscal years.

Biratnagar-Kimathanka (Sankhuwasabha): Total 310 KM (84 KM Tack needs to open)

Kathmandu-Tatopai (Sindhupalchowk): 40 Kilometers will be blacktopped.

Galchi-Kerung(Rasuwa): Opening Double Lane on 82 KM and blacktopping

Belhaiya (Rupandehi)-Koral (Mustang): Total 390 KM (320 KM need to be blacktopped)

Estimated cost per kilometer of blacktopping the four highways is between NPR 60-NPR 100M.

The ministry also informed the National News Agency that Chinese Government has expressed its interest to support Nepal blacktopping 40 Kilometer of Ktm-Tatopani Highway and construction of Syafrubesi-Rasuuwagadi Highway.
