Chinese policy towards Nepal

Building a tunnel railway line in the mountains and under the mountains will be a very expensive plan in itself. Its feasibility study will be done in 42 months. Then the construction will start.

As soon as the railway study team arrived in Nepal, China's Acting Ambassador Wang Xin arrived at the inauguration of the Pokhara International Airport built by China on January 1, 2023 and announced that the expert team for the feasibility study and survey of the China-Nepal cross-border railway has arrived in Nepal. Nepal's dream of becoming a "land-lincked country" from a "land-locked country" will come true through the important stage of construction of "international road".

Acting Ambassador also made a surprising revelation - Pokhara International Airport is part of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) project. By promoting BRI, Nepal has started getting fruitful results.

Pokhara Airport was built with a loan of 21 million, 7 million dollars from China's Exim Bank. Of this, 75 percent will be charged 2 percent interest, while 25 percent will not have to pay interest.

Earlier, Gautam Buddha International Airport has been built in Lumbini by spending 76.1 million. This airport was built by Rijshalbuk Lychatjadhabhakat Riskhsh Bikhshbatshyal Bshchuychat Riyalkatchagaatshyal Nchayagau. Due to the involvement of China, India has not given an air route even to Pokhara Airport like Bhairahawa. If not, the investment of ADV and OPEC fund will be meaningless.

This ambitious plan will cost 8 billion dollars.

China will not subsidize investment. Is a lender. How can Nepal pay the debt and interest of such a large Chinese investment?

Nepal's export trade is worth 5 million, while its import is worth 1.7 billion. China is ready to import 10,000 types of goods duty-free, but Nepal can neither produce nor export. Nepal is India's largest market.

Is Sri Lanka a victim of Chinese debt trap ?

Many questions have already been raised about the risk of earthquakes, damage to nature, and environmental impact when constructing under this himalayan, mountain tunnel railway. 

Sri Lanka built the Hammantota port on loan from China. This port has been handed over to China for 99 years after not being able to pay debt and interest. China has invested 12.1 billion dollars.

Today's international question is, Is Sri Lanka a victim of Chinese debt trap ?

Nepal is a landlocked country. Nepal has become a parasitic, dependent country. Nepal cannot increase trade with China on a large scale to pay for investment. Nepal is a country that runs its budget by exporting boys and girls as a labours. Nepal is taking loans to run the administration also. After China huge invests in connecting the railway line to Kathmandu, if the investment sinks, Will Kathmandu be leased to China like Hambantota?

In that situation, where will Nepal's policy and existence reach?

Nepal should think twice before taking a loan from China - how to pay the loan?

The government of Maoists should say – is Nepal ready to become Sri Lanka?
