China's aggressive activity in Nepal

Why did the government ban Tiktok, there are various opinions about it. After continuous pressure from the Chinese government and widespread opposition to the democratic government on social media, the government's strictness is softening. After public protests and demonstrations on the streets, the Prime Minister has become much softer.
After the Chinese ambassador became more aggressive and started talking about the internal affairs of Nepal, even though the Prime Minister of Nepal remained silent, it is natural that India on the other side is on fire. The echoes are gradually increasing.
There is no doubt that China's ambassador has become more aggressive because of the increase in China's influence.
Chinese Ambassador Cheng Song is of the opinion that in 2013, amid the complex and deep changes in Asia, President Xi Jinping has moved forward by presenting the principles of friendship, honesty and mutual benefit to China's diplomacy, addressing the expectations of Asian countries. By activating this principle, China has continuously increased trust with neighboring countries. A bright path of good neighborliness and victorious cooperation has been created. Developing friendly relations with neighboring countries is China's neighborhood diplomacy. In the years since 2013, China's neighbors, including Nepal, have done many works of mutual cooperation.
His Excellency the Ambassador goes on to say - In 2015, a great earthquake struck Nepal. China played the role of a helper in the rescue and post-disaster reconstruction in this disaster. China has worked together with Nepal to fight the epidemic of Covid-19 and overcome difficulties. This time, when another earthquake hit Jajarkot and Rukum West, China immediately provided financial and emergency humanitarian aid.
China has taken honesty and partnership to new heights in its dealings with Nepal. Since 2013, China has been fulfilling its commitments. The partnership with the neighborhood has been expanded. China treats everyone equally. In 2019, President Xi Jinping made a historic state visit to Nepal and raised the bilateral relations to a strategic partnership of cooperation with prosperity and lasting friendship.
Nepal's Prime Minister Prachanda had a successful visit to China last September 23-30. A cordial meeting was held with the President of China. In order to further strengthen the China-Nepal friendship, an atmosphere of broad agreement has been created on bilateral, regional and international issues of common concern.
This year, Chongqing Municipal Party Committee member and Chongqing Municipal Party Committee member Yuan Jiajun, Sichuan Provincial Party Committee Secretary Wang Xiaohui and Sijang Autonomous State Secretary Wang Zhongcheng Province Committee have visited Nepal. Party and government representatives of both countries are visiting frequently. This has made the relationship stronger and stronger.
China extends a helping hand for mutual benefit. In 2017, a bilateral agreement was signed between China and Nepal in the framework of BRI. The Upper Masryangdi A, Upper Tamakoshi and Upper Trishuli 3A hydropower projects built by the Chinese company have been put into operation. Upper Trishuli-1 and Sanjen hydropower projects are being constructed. The cross-border optical fiber link has been put into operation, the Pokhara International Airport built by China has been inaugurated and the Dhwarijbat Abath has landed in Nepal. Under the transit protocol between Nepal and China, Nepal has started benefiting from transit cargo from third countries. Nepal's silage is exported to China and the export to China has increased this year.
China has been cooperating with South Asian countries in various fields such as human resource training, poverty alleviation and disaster relief, economy and trade and cultural exchange, and has established platforms such as China-South Asia Expo, China-South Asia Cooperation Forum. It has started solid support in China-South Asian countries through the Center for Poverty Alleviation and Cooperative Development, and it has started the first "Vibrant Village" exhibition project in Nepal. China is moving forward for common prosperity.
After giving an explanation about his campaign to China in this way, the statement given by Chinese Ambassador Chen Song at the discussion program organized by Foundation for Trans-Himalayan Research and Studies and Friends of Silk Road Club Nepal on 'China and its influence on Nepal' has created a big wave in the diplomatic circle.
Chinese Ambassador Chen has said - 'China has influence on the world economy. Fortunately you have a neighbor like India, because India is a huge market with huge potential that you can tap into. But at the same time, India's policy towards Nepal and other neighbors is not so friendly and not so beneficial for Nepal. But in the last fiscal year, Nepal exported electricity worth 10 billion rupees to India. My Nepali friends, you have imported electricity worth 19 billion rupees from India. You had a loss in electricity business, one of the products you are proud of and you think that such business will bring financial freedom. These words of the ambassador are viral on social media. Electricity and trade between Nepal and India is a matter of loss for Nepal. That is why we call it the policy of obstruction. The government of Nepal has to take its decision in such situations when making economic policy. The opening of China's doors did not mean that China's economy was booming. Because we have a very strong base, because almost at the same time, India also opened its doors, but we did not see any economic boom in India. It is only in recent years that we see India's economy starting to pick up.
The ambassador said - 'Do you know how much grain Nepal will import from India in the first month of this financial year¿ Grain worth 7 billion rupees was imported from India. Multiplying by twelve, India imports agricultural products worth 100 billion rupees every year. That's why I say that the Nepalese government has prioritized the agricultural sector. That is very important.
Also, you don't have very strong industrial bases. Your manufacturing sector has fallen from 14 percent of GDP to below 10 percent. Even though Nepal is importing every industrial product of the world including India and China, there is no production in the country. Therefore, one of the issues mentioned by Nepali politicians, leaders and friends in our meeting is that Nepal has a huge deficit in trade with China. He said that the Chinese have welcomed Nepal's export of products to China. But the problem is that Nepal does not produce anything, neither agriculture, nor any industrial production.
After the Indian Embassy objected to the foreign minister NP Saud regarding this statement of the ambassador, the minister said that the statement of the ambassador has attracted attention. Some people have also demanded an explanation because it has created unnecessary disputes in Nepal's relations with neighboring countries, contrary to diplomatic dignity.
After the dispute arose, former Prime Minister and Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba said - I have read the statement of the Chinese ambassador. According to Deuba's advisor Arun Subedi, the question is what will our reaction be if the Indian ambassador makes such a statement. When China refused to use Nepal's new map showing its territory, the government is silent on such a comment. Prime Minister Prachanda should send a diplomatic note and protest the comments.
The government is silent, but an aide of the prime minister said that the statement of the Chinese ambassador is against diplomatic dignity. It is inappropriate to make such a comment on the internal affairs of Nepal. Some Indian Nepal experts say that Beijing has started interfering again in the affairs of its neighbor New Delhi. Sino-Indian relations have failed to normalize, so Beijing is pushing Delhi in its neighborhood. Constantino Xavier, a fellow in foreign policy and security studies at the Center for Social and Economic Progress (RICVA) in New Delhi, wrote. It is spread on Twitter - 'The Chinese ambassador has depicted India as an obstacle in the development of Nepal. Nepal has also explained how to run its economy, create a 'equal social structure' and accept the 'BRI gift'.
Karna Shakya says - During the visit of the Chinese side, there was an agreement to raise the bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, but what does that mean¿ Why are the Chinese making unnecessary comments on Nepal's internal affairs from the MCC US-funded project to this episode¿
According to senior advocate Bipin Adhikari, the Chinese ambassador has spoken the reality of Nepal. It may be undiplomatic, but whatever the Chinese ambassador said, he spoke the truth. It seems that he spoke in the interest of Nepal.
