Thanks to Mr. Raymond Ferguson, Director of Secretariat for presiding over the meeting.
First of all, I would like to express my full support and endorsement to the Party and government of the DPR of Korea for newly formulating their stand on inter-Korean relations and reunification policy on the basis of a level-headed assessment of over 80-year-long history of the north-south relations.
As the one who has worked with many comrades present here for the promotion of friendship with Korea, supporting the just cause of the Korean people, I would like to my deep thanks for electing me as a co-chair of the regional committee and giving me a chance again to dedicate myself for the sake of the DPR of Korea. Being mindful of my duty and having a high sense of responsibility, I assure my full commitment to further consolidating the regional committee that renders support and encouragement to the Korean people in their struggle to build a thriving nation while firmly defending peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and those of the region and the world.
As the one who has had the honor of personally meeting President Kim Il Sung, I will avail myself of this opportunity to say that even a small country can be a great state if guided by a great leader. With this in mind, I would like to underscore that the regional committee should give the highest priority to giving wide publicity to the reality of Korea that ushers in a new era of comprehensive development of socialism under the wise leadership of His Excellency Kim Jong Un and by immortalizing the greatness and exploits of the great leaders of Korea.
Reminding everyone present here that this is the year in which we mark the 30th anniversary of the demise of the great President Kim Il Sung, I, as a co-chair of the Regional Committee assure that we will organize a commemoration event in memory of President Kim Il Sung in Nepal on joint auspices of friendship and solidarity organizations in Nepal.
