The Lions Club of Nepal Journalist has been formed under the chairmanship of journalist Yogendra Pratap Shahi. On September 17, there was a festive ceremony. The program was conducted by Zone Chairperson Lion - Bharat Prasad Prasai. The charter presentation ceremony was attended by Lion Club Multiple Chairperson DR Khanal, district governer sudarshan Pradhananga, GMT chariperson shambhu Ghimire and Editor General Dr Damodar Prasad dawadi. All the speakers had said that travelling along with the cooperation of journalists and Lions would be important.
Secretary Shreejan Jha spoke on behalf of the Lions Club of Nepal Journalist where as first Vice President, Dr Niranjan Ojha had also thanked the memorandum. The Vice President of the District, Dr, Shushila Malla District Cabinet treasurer, Lion Vidan Joshi, DG Lion Viju Bajracharya and PDG Lion Madhukar Upadhyay were present in the program.
In the history of one hundred one years of Lions Club, first time it is also seen as organization of Nepali Journalist. On Sept 17, 2018 the charter, induction and installation program has been completed.
Lions club is a human service organization. The United States citizen Melvin Jones founded resulting concept, in 1917 with the support of the victims of immediate warfare, which has expanded in 211 Nation of the Lions Club International World.
Matrika Prasad Koirala, then Prime Minister of Nepal, became the founding Chairman by establishing the Lions club in Biratnagar in1971.
Now, with the motive to serve, Nepalese journalists are actively engaged with lions. Lion Sanjaya Khaitan has represented Lions in the international world for the first time from Nepal. Similarly, it was the moment of glory for all Journalists to be associated as part of lions.
Yogendra Pratap Shahi, President of Nepal Journalist Federation, is the Chairperson of this chapter formed to serve through the Lions Club. Other officials, the first Vice President Dr. Niranjan Ojha, Opposition Vice President, Netra Prasad Neupane, Shrijan Jha in Secretary, Narain Manandandhar, Joint Managing Director, Manju Shahi and Suvanjali manandhar are in treasurer. According to the International World Lions rules, Mr. Rajan Karki in Club's International Foundation Director, Roshan Karki in Public Relations Officer, Prajjol Thapa in Club Director, Media Director Prabin Shrestha and Hirra in Membership Director.
In the principal hospitality of D R. Khanal, Lion's Club, Multiple Chair person, the district governer Sudarshandhar Pradhanang transferred the charter paper to the chairman of the Club Mr. Yogendra Pratap Shahi. Also, the Duty Charter Certificate and membership certificate of Lions club of Journalist association under 325 A2 for working level Journalists was also distributed.
Finally, in our nation, there is an illusion among people regarding Lions club as they believe that it works for well financing groups but in contrary to this, the main purpose of Lions is to protect the needy and help poor people.
To improve the understanding among people, Nepali Journalists will be spreading more about the importance and service of Lions club.
